The objective of this study was to analyze the impacts of energy drink consumption on the health of young people, with a focus on cardiovascular, metabolic, autonomic, and behavioral systems. An integrative literature review was carried out, covering articles published between 2010 and 2024 from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The results indicate that the active ingredients in energy drinks, such as caffeine and taurine, induce acute effects, including increased blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, and metabolic disturbances. Moreover, excessive consumption is associated with risky behaviors such as insomnia, anxiety, and aggressiveness, particularly when combined with alcohol. Clinical studies report severe adverse events, including myocardial infarctions and fatal arrhythmias in young individuals. Despite the existing evidence, gaps in the literature were identified, such as the lack of longitudinal studies and investigations into interactions with other lifestyle habits. It is concluded that
stricter regulations, educational campaigns, and future research are necessary to mitigate the health risks associated with energy drink consumption among young people.
